The Intel build that fits a smaller desk
Core Ultra 200S chips run cooler and draw less power than the 13th and 14th generation parts they replace, which makes a Micro-ATX board a genuinely sensible home for one. The B860M-Plus WiFi gives you a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot, PCIe 5.0 primary M.2, four DDR5 slots and Wi-Fi 7 on a board that fits compact cases and cheaper mid-towers alike. For a South African buyer building a machine that has to do gaming, study work and the occasional render, this is a balanced, unfussy starting point that leaves budget for the graphics card.
Limitations worth knowing
B860 does not support CPU multiplier overclocking, so a K-series Core Ultra will run at stock; memory overclocking through XMP is still available. Micro-ATX means fewer expansion slots and fewer fan and RGB headers, and a large graphics card will usually block whatever slot sits below it. Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 is a Z890 feature and is not guaranteed here, and networking is 2.5 Gb rather than faster. Anyone planning heavy CPU overclocking, a capture card alongside the GPU or Thunderbolt storage should buy a Z890 board instead.
