Best gaming PCs in South Africa by budget (2026)

By AZOnline, Edenvale · Prices include VAT and stock is live · Updated 2 November 2026

Quick answer

For esports games such as Valorant, Fortnite and CS2 at 1080p, a complete PC on built-in graphics is enough. For recent AAA games at 1080p, budget roughly R25 000 to R40 000 for a current-generation PC with a dedicated graphics card. For 1440p at high refresh rates, plan on R40 000 or more. The lists below show only the pre-built gaming PCs we have in stock today in each budget, at their current VAT-inclusive prices.

Right now the most affordable complete gaming PC we have in stock is the PCBuilder Ryzen 5 8600G WARDEN Windows 11 Gaming PC at R 15 999,00, and we have 5 pre-built gaming PCs in stock.

How to choose a gaming PC

  • Start with your games and your screen. The games you play and your monitor's resolution (1080p, 1440p or 4K) decide most of the budget. A higher refresh rate, 144Hz and up, needs more performance at the same resolution.
  • The graphics card matters most. For recent games, look for at least 8GB of video memory at 1080p and 12GB to 16GB at 1440p. A PC that relies on built-in graphics is fine for esports titles but will not run new AAA games well.
  • Six processor cores are enough for gaming. More cores help with streaming and creative work. AMD's X3D processors are among the fastest for games because of their extra cache.
  • 16GB of memory is the minimum and 32GB is comfortable if you stream, keep Discord and a browser open while you play, or edit video.
  • Get at least 1TB of NVMe storage. Many modern games take up 100GB or more each.
  • Think about upgrades. A current platform such as AMD AM5 with DDR5 memory can take a faster processor later. Older AM4 builds with DDR4 cost less but are near the end of their upgrade path.
  • Do not skimp on the power supply. A reputable unit with headroom above what the parts draw keeps the system stable and leaves room for a bigger graphics card later.

Under R15 000: esports and lighter games

At this price a complete PC with Windows usually relies on the graphics built into the processor rather than a separate graphics card. That handles esports and lighter games such as Valorant, Fortnite, CS2, Minecraft and Roblox at 1080p with sensible settings, but not recent AAA games at high settings.

Nothing in this budget is in stock as a pre-built right now. You can put one together in the PC Builder, which only offers compatible parts, and we will assemble and test it free of charge.

R15 000 to R25 000: entry-level 1080p gaming

In this range some builds add a dedicated graphics card and others use a stronger chip with built-in graphics. Read the Quick Specs on each product page to see which you are getting: a separate card with 8GB of video memory or more is what makes recent games playable at 1080p.

R25 000 to R40 000: current-generation 1080p gaming

The sweet spot for most buyers. Expect a current platform with DDR5 memory, a current-generation graphics card and a fast NVMe drive, so recent games run well at 1080p and many are comfortable at 1440p. AMD's AM5 platform also leaves room to upgrade the processor later without replacing the motherboard.

R40 000 to R60 000: 1440p at high refresh rates

Built for 1440p on a high-refresh monitor. Look for a graphics card with 12GB to 16GB of video memory, a six- or eight-core processor, 32GB of memory if you stream or multitask, and a quality power supply with room to spare.

R60 000 and up: high-end 1440p and 4K

For high-refresh 1440p and 4K. This is where AMD's X3D processors, whose extra cache helps in many games, and the fastest graphics cards come in. Check that the case has the airflow and the power supply has the capacity for the card you choose.

Questions people ask

How much does a good gaming PC cost in South Africa?

It depends on the games you play and the screen you play on. As a rough guide: a PC on built-in graphics covers esports titles at 1080p at the entry level, about R25 000 to R40 000 buys a current-generation PC for recent games at 1080p, and R40 000 or more is the usual starting point for 1440p at high refresh rates. Prices on this page include VAT and follow our live stock.

Is it cheaper to build your own gaming PC or buy a pre-built?

The parts often cost about the same either way. A pre-built adds assembly, testing and a Windows installation, and you have one place to go if anything goes wrong. At AZOnline you can also choose your own parts in the PC Builder and have us assemble, cable-manage and stress-test the build at no extra charge.

Do your pre-built gaming PCs come with Windows?

Most of our pre-built gaming PCs ship with Windows 11 Home installed, and the product title and Quick Specs on each product page say what is included. If you build your own in the PC Builder and add a Windows licence to the same order, we install and activate it for you.

How long does delivery of a gaming PC take?

Pre-built PCs are assembled and tested to order, which adds 2 to 4 working days before dispatch. Courier delivery then takes 1 to 3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban, and 3 to 5 working days to regional towns. Delivery is free on orders of R1 500 or more, except to remote areas, where it costs R350.

What warranty does a gaming PC from AZOnline have?

Every product carries a local South African warranty, and the period is shown on its product page. Claims go through us rather than the manufacturer. The Consumer Protection Act also gives you six months from delivery on goods that are defective or not fit for purpose.

Can I collect a gaming PC in Johannesburg?

Yes. You can collect from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, on Johannesburg's East Rand, by arrangement. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday. Message us on WhatsApp at 079 491 0181 first so your order is ready when you arrive.
