The 1200W Strix is the 1000W unit with 200W more ceiling for roughly 30 grams more weight, which is the cheapest headroom in the ROG range.
Quick Specs
- 1200W continuous output, 80 Plus Platinum certified
- ATX 3.1 with a PCIe Gen 5.1 16-pin (12V-2x6) cable terminated at both ends
- Fully modular, four 6+2-pin PCIe leads plus the 16-pin
- 0dB fan button, Cybenetics noise level certification A
- 160 x 150 x 86 mm, 1.84 kg, 10-year warranty
Buy the ceiling, not the average
A 1200W platform is not about running 1200W. It is about sitting at 500 to 700W typical draw, well below the point where the fan ramps and well inside the Platinum efficiency curve. That matters if you are running an RTX 5090 next to a 16-core CPU, or if you have a workstation that spends hours rendering rather than minutes gaming. For a single mid-range card this is dead weight and the 1000W Strix is the better buy.
What you plug into it
One native 16-pin cable at 750mm handles a 50-series card with no adapter. Beyond that there are four separate 1-to-1 PCIe leads at 750mm, which is the right way to feed a card with three or four 8-pin sockets since each connector gets its own run back to the PSU rather than sharing a daisy chain. Two SATA cables and a peripheral lead cover storage and accessories. Depth is 160mm, so measure the basement in a compact case before ordering.
FEATURES:
- 0dB fan button keeps the fan stationary until the system reaches a set load
- Cybenetics noise level certification A
- ATX 3.1 compliant with a native PCIe Gen 5.1 16-pin cable
- Individual 1-to-1 PCIe cable runs rather than daisy-chained connectors
- OPP, OVP, UVP, SCP, OCP and OTP protection
