ASUS TUF Gaming 850W EVO 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Cybenetics measures this one as Platinum at 230V, which is the voltage every South African wall socket runs at.

Quick Specs

• 850W continuous output, 80 Plus Gold certified
• Cybenetics efficiency: Platinum at 230V, Gold at 115V
• ATX 3.1 with a 12V 16-pin (12V-2x6) connector and a PCIe Gen 5.1 cable
• Compact 140 x 150 x 86 mm chassis, 1.35 kg
• MTBF greater than 120,000 hours at 40°C, 8-year warranty

The 230V number is the one that counts here

80 Plus Gold is tested at 115V. Cybenetics tests at both, and at 230V this unit measures into the Platinum band. Every plug point in South Africa is 230V, so in practice you are buying Platinum-level efficiency at a Gold price. Less waste heat inside the case and a lower draw at the wall, which matters when the tariff goes up again. At 850W it suits a build around an RTX 5070 Ti or 5080 with a mainstream or high-end CPU.

Small chassis, current connectors

At 140mm deep and 1.35 kg this is noticeably smaller and lighter than most 850W units, which makes it a good fit for a compact mid-tower where the PSU basement is short. It carries a single 12V 16-pin connector fed by a PCIe Gen 5.1 cable, so a 50-series card plugs in directly, plus three 6+2-pin leads for older cards. Storage support is modest at four SATA and two peripheral connectors, so if you are running a drive cage full of mechanical disks, look at a larger unit.

Why ASUS?

ASUS submits the TUF Gaming EVO units for independent Cybenetics testing rather than relying on the 80 Plus badge alone, which is how you can see the 230V result at all. The unit is backed by an 8-year warranty.
