A compact Core Ultra build without dropping the important bits

The Prime B860M-A WiFi is for a mainstream Core Ultra 5 or 7 build in a micro-ATX case. You still get four DDR5 slots, so you can start with two sticks and add two later, a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for the graphics card and a PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slot wired straight to the CPU. Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5Gb Ethernet are both onboard, and the rear USB-C port runs at 20Gbps with DisplayPort output. The I/O shield comes pre-mounted and the Q-Antenna clicks on, which keeps first builds simple.

What B860 gives up compared with Z890

B860 does not allow CPU multiplier overclocking, so a K-series chip runs at stock here. Memory overclocking through XMP and ASUS AEMP III is supported. You also get two M.2 slots rather than four, and the second x16 slot runs at x4 from the chipset, which suits a capture card or NVMe adapter but not a second GPU. If you plan to run several NVMe drives or tune a Core Ultra 9 hard, step up to a Z890 board. For gaming and everyday work on a non-K or locked chip, this board covers it.
