Thirty-two cores on the full PRO platform — the configuration most professional workstations actually settle on.
Quick Specs
- 32 cores / 64 threads, 4.0GHz base, up to 5.3GHz boost
- 160MB total cache (32MB L2 + 128MB L3)
- 350W TDP, sTR5 socket
- 8-channel DDR5-5200 RDIMM with ECC
- PCIe 5.0, 148 lanes total (144 usable, 128 at PCIe 5.0)
The balance point of the PRO range
Sixty-four threads is enough to make renders, simulations and large builds genuinely fast, and the 5.3GHz boost means the machine still feels immediate when you're modelling, grading or scrubbing a timeline. Around that sit eight channels of ECC DDR5 and 144 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes — enough for multiple professional GPUs, high-speed networking and a large NVMe array all at full bandwidth. For most studios speccing a serious workstation, this is the model that gets chosen.
Above and below it
The 7965WX saves real money if twenty-four cores cover your workload; the 7985WX doubles the cores if your renders are the bottleneck and you don't mind losing per-core speed. This sits between them deliberately. Standard PRO platform requirements apply: a WRX90 board, eight RDIMM modules to use all channels, sTR5 cooling for 350W, and a power supply sized for the whole system. Nothing is included in the box.
