Lots of cores for a graphics-card build
The 265F gives you eight Performance-cores and twelve Efficient-cores, so it handles gaming, streaming, rendering and heavy multitasking with plenty in reserve. It has the same core layout as the Core Ultra 7 265, but the "F" means the integrated graphics are disabled, which makes sense when a graphics card is going in regardless. It is locked rather than overclockable, so a B860 board is a sensible, lower-cost pairing. DDR5 up to 6400 MT/s is supported, and the Intel AI Boost NPU is rated at 13 TOPS for supported AI features.
Cooler, iGPU and power
Intel ships the boxed 265F with its Laminar RM2 cooler, rated for 65W. That is fine for everyday use, but under long all-core loads the chip can draw up to 182W, so a tower air cooler will hold higher clocks and run quieter. With no iGPU there is no display output without a graphics card, and no Quick Sync video encoding, so choose the Core Ultra 7 265 if either matters. You need an LGA1851 (800-series) board and DDR5; LGA1700 boards and DDR4 are not compatible.
