The cheapest way onto LGA1851 — Intel's current socket, with an NPU on board.

- 10 cores (6 P-cores + 4 E-cores) / 10 threads
- 3.3GHz P-core base, up to 4.9GHz turbo

- 65W base power, 121W max turbo
- Intel AI Boost NPU, 13 TOPS; no integrated graphics
A new platform, not a dead end
LGA1700 has reached the end of its life; LGA1851 is what Intel is building on now. The 225F is the least expensive entry to it — six Performance-cores at up to 4.9GHz plus four efficiency cores, DDR5-6400 support, and Intel's AI Boost NPU rated at 13 TOPS for on-device AI features in Windows and creative applications. For a fresh mid-range Intel build, this is the sensible foundation.
Two things that surprise people
First: ten cores but only ten threads. Intel dropped Hyper-Threading on Core Ultra, so each core runs one thread — the design bets on more real cores instead. In practice gaming is unaffected and heavily threaded work is competitive, but the thread count on the box is lower than an older i5's. Second: "F" means no integrated graphics whatsoever, so a discrete card is required. If you want display output on board, the 225 is the same chip with graphics enabled.
