A value-focused drive for a big game library

The 2TB 990 EVO Plus is quicker than the 1TB, with up to 7,250MB/s read and 1,000,000 random read IOPS, which puts it within reach of far pricier drives for loading games and apps. It uses Host Memory Buffer instead of onboard DRAM, which keeps power use low and suits laptops as well as desktops. The dual-mode interface runs over PCIe 4.0 x4 or PCIe 5.0 x2, and Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 keeps typical writes fast. At 2TB you can keep Windows, apps and a solid game collection on one drive.

EVO Plus or PRO?

The 990 PRO 2TB adds a 2GB DRAM cache and higher random performance (1,400K random read IOPS), which helps under heavy, sustained workloads like large video projects or constant file transfers. For gaming and everyday use, the EVO Plus gets most of that speed for less money. This is the bare drive with no heatsink, so use your motherboard's M.2 cooler, or add one for a PS5. On older PCIe 3.0 boards it will run at Gen 3 speeds.
