At R249 this is close to the floor for a headset with a real boom mic, and the mic is the part most cheap headsets get wrong.
Quick Specs
- Over-ear closed-back gaming headset
- Wired connection
- Fixed (non-detachable) microphone
- RGB lighting on the earcups
- 18-month Redragon warranty
What R249 actually gets you
The Cronus is an entry headset and it behaves like one. You get a padded over-ear fit, a fixed boom mic that your squad will hear clearly on Discord, and lighting on the cups. Redragon markets it as surround sound, but understand what that means here: it is a stereo headset with surround-flavoured tuning, not seven drivers per side and not USB-processed 7.1. Stereo is fine for positional audio in most shooters anyway, and honestly better than badly faked surround.
The honest trade-offs
The microphone does not detach and the arm does not fold away, so this is a headset you wear at a desk rather than one you take to a coffee shop. The lighting draws power, so the cable is doing two jobs and is not something you will want to coil into a bag every day. Clamp force on a new unit is firm and needs a week or so of wear to settle. If you want a quieter, lighter set for long study sessions, look further up the range.
