For a dedicated streaming PC
Game Capture 4K Pro is Elgato's flagship internal card. It sits in a PCIe slot in a Windows desktop and takes HDMI from a PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, Switch, Steam Deck, ROG Ally or a second gaming PC. Passthrough goes all the way to 8K60, 4K144 and 1440p or 1080p at 240Hz, so you keep your display's full refresh rate while you capture. Recording reaches 4K60 in true 10-bit HDR10, or HDR can be tone-mapped to SDR on the card. The feed can go to several apps at once, for example recording locally in Elgato Studio while streaming in OBS, with no watermarks or time limits.
Internal or external?
This is a PCIe card, so it needs a free PCIe 2.0 x4, x8 or x16 slot in a desktop and won't work with a laptop or a Mac. If you want to move between machines or capture on the go, the USB Game Capture 4K X does 4K144 capture externally. Check the system requirements: Windows 10 64-bit or newer, an 8th-gen Core i5 or Ryzen 5 3600 or better, and a GeForce GTX 10-series or better. It only captures unencrypted HDMI, so PlayStation users must turn off HDCP in settings.
