A true USB headset, which means it brings its own sound card and bypasses whatever cheap audio chip is on your motherboard.
Quick Specs
- 40mm high-precision drivers
- USB connection with its own audio processing
- Virtual 7.1 surround sound
- Over-ear closed-back design
- 18-month Redragon warranty
Why USB is the upgrade here
Every headset below this in the range runs analogue audio over a 3.5mm jack, which means the sound quality depends on the audio circuitry of the device you plug into. On a budget motherboard that often means audible hiss and interference from the graphics card. The Aurora does its own digital-to-analogue conversion inside the headset, so the signal stays digital until the last moment. On a noisy PC this is a bigger real-world improvement than any driver-size difference.
What you give up
USB-only means no consoles in the usual way, no phone, and no plugging into a controller. If you play on a PS5 or a Switch, buy an aux model instead. The 40mm drivers are also smaller than the 50mm units in the Hylas and Pandora, so if outright bass is your priority those give you more of it. The Aurora trades driver size for a cleaner signal path, which is the right trade for most desktop players but not all of them.
