No lighting, no software, no USB — just a 3.5mm headset with a sensitive mic, which is exactly what a console or a laptop wants.
Quick Specs
- Over-ear closed-back gaming headset
- Wired 3.5mm aux connection
- Highly sensitive microphone
- No RGB lighting
- 18-month Redragon warranty
The case for going aux
Aux is the most compatible connection there is. This headset works on a PS5 controller, an Xbox controller, a Nintendo Switch, a laptop with a combo jack and a phone with a dongle, without drivers and without a USB port being free. The RGB version of the Ares needs USB power for its lighting and loses that simplicity. If you move between devices, or you game on console, the plain H120 is the more useful of the two.
Where it falls short
There is no inline volume wheel on some units and no software, so everything is handled by the device you plug into. The mic is sensitive, which is good for pickup and bad if you have a mechanical keyboard or a loud fan nearby, because it will hear both. And because it is analogue, the sound is only as good as the audio circuitry in whatever you plug it into. A cheap motherboard jack will make it sound worse than it is.
FEATURES:
- Single 3.5mm aux connection for broad console, PC and mobile compatibility
- Highly sensitive microphone for clear party chat
- Closed-back over-ear cups for passive noise isolation
- Lightweight build suited to long sessions
- Adjustable padded headband
