Smooth and quiet for low-profile boards
Red is the linear option in Gateron's low-profile line-up: the key travels straight down with no tactile bump and no click, which suits fast typing and gaming where you want consistent, uninterrupted keystrokes. The 2.0 version is pre-lubricated, has a transparent PC top housing so per-key RGB shows through, and stands 12.2 mm tall, slightly taller than the original KS-27 low-profile switch with a longer travel. With 110 in the box you can replace every switch on a full-size low-profile board and keep a few spares. If you want feedback on every press, look at the Brown or Banana sets instead.
Before you buy: low-profile boards only
These are Gateron low-profile switches, so they only fit keyboards built for Gateron low-profile MX-style switches: the low-profile Keychron K1, K3, K5, K7, K Pro and K Max models, plus the S1. They will not fit a normal-height MX board, and Keychron's low-profile optical boards cannot take them either. On hot-swappable versions a switch changes in seconds; non-hot-swap versions of the K1, K3, K5 and S1 need soldering. Also note that the common Gateron switch opener does not work on low-profile switches, so these are not a lubing project.
