The connector count is the story
Most 1000W units give you four PCIe leads and five or six SATA ports. The Thor Platinum II gives you eight PCIe 6+2-pin, twelve SATA and six peripheral connectors. If you are running a card that wants three 8-pins, a full hard drive cage, an AIO, a fan hub and a pump, you will actually use that. If your build is a GPU and two NVMe drives, you are paying for sockets you will leave empty and the Strix 1000W is the sensible alternative.
Big, quiet, and lit
At 190mm deep and 2.37 kg this is a large unit, and the space buys a quieter thermal solution: Cybenetics rates it A++ for noise, the best band in the scheme, and the 0dB button keeps the fan stopped entirely at low load. Aura Sync ties the lighting to the rest of an ASUS build via the supplied RGB cable. Before you order, check that your case has 190mm of PSU depth with the front cable bundle accounted for, because a lot of mid-towers do not.

Before you buy
Is this enough power for my build?
It is a 1000W supply rated 80 Plus Platinum. Add up what your parts need - the graphics card is usually the biggest single draw, and every card we sell lists its recommended system wattage - then leave headroom above that figure. A supply running at roughly half its rating is quieter and lasts longer than one held near its limit.
Is it modular?
It is Fully Modular. Fully modular means every cable unplugs, so you only fit the ones you need; semi-modular keeps the motherboard and CPU cables attached and makes the rest optional; non-modular has them all permanently fixed. It is a tidiness and airflow question rather than a performance one. Never reuse cables from a different supply - the pinouts differ between brands.
Is it in stock, and when will it ship?
This one is out of stock at the moment. Stock does come back in - WhatsApp us on 079 491 0181 with the model and we will tell you what the supplier is showing and let you know when it lands, rather than leaving you to keep checking the page.
What does delivery cost, and how long does it take?
We deliver by courier anywhere in South Africa, and delivery is R180 on orders under R2 500 and free on orders of R2 500 or more. It takes 1-3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and areas within 100km of them, and 2-4 working days to areas more than 100km from a major centre, counted from the day the order is dispatched. Need it sooner? Express delivery is 1-2 working days for R210, or R150 on orders of R2 500 or more - choose it at checkout. We do not ship outside South Africa.
Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, Gauteng, by arrangement - message us first so we can have the order picked and waiting. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday.
What warranty does it carry, and how do I claim?
The warranty period for this product is listed at the end of the Specifications section above. Claims go through us, not the manufacturer - contact us with your order number and a description of the fault and we will handle it from there. Separately from any warranty, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe or not fit for their intended purpose.
What if I change my mind?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind - longer than the seven days the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, and we pay the return shipping. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 30 days of the return reaching us.
How can I pay?
