- Four DDR4 slots with dual-channel support up to 128GB
- PCIe 4.0 x16 graphics slot fed directly by the CPU
- M.2 NVMe socket plus multiple SATA 6Gb/s ports
- Micro-ATX layout with addressable Gen2 RGB and Aura Sync headers
A safe foundation for a first Ryzen build
The Prime line exists to be predictable, and that is exactly what you want under a first gaming PC. You get ASUS firmware that is easy to navigate, sensible fan control through Fan Xpert, and a memory layout that lets you fill all four slots as budget allows. B550 keeps PCIe 4.0 where it counts, so a Gen4 SSD and a modern graphics card both run at full bandwidth. Paired with a Ryzen 5 5600 and 16GB of DDR4, this makes a machine that handles 1080p gaming, streaming and study work without any drama, and AM4 parts remain widely stocked locally.
Know the ceiling before you buy
This is a value board and it shows in the places you would expect. There is no onboard Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, networking is Gigabit rather than 2.5G, and the power delivery is sized for mid-range Ryzen chips rather than a 5950X pushed hard. Rear I/O is functional rather than generous, and Micro-ATX limits how many add-in cards you can fit. If you are planning heavy multi-core rendering, want wireless without an adapter, or need lots of storage and expansion, look at a higher-tier B550 or an X570 ATX board instead.
