Sixteen Zen 5 cores at 5.7GHz — the fastest processor that still fits a normal motherboard.
Quick Specs
- 16 cores / 32 threads, 4.3GHz base, up to 5.7GHz boost
- 80MB total cache (16MB L2 + 64MB L3)
- 170W TDP, AM5 socket, DDR5-5600 up to 256GB
- PCIe 5.0, 28 lanes; Radeon graphics on board
- No cooler included
Workstation output on a consumer socket
Thirty-two Zen 5 threads at up to 5.7GHz is as much compute as you can get without moving to Threadripper and its far more expensive boards and memory. Blender, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, large C++ builds, heavy virtualisation — all of it scales onto those cores, and the high boost keeps everyday single-threaded work snappy too. For freelancers and studios who need real throughput but not 128GB of ECC RAM, this is the sensible ceiling.
Plan the cooling and the case
170W is a serious thermal load and there's no cooler included — a 280mm or 360mm AIO is the realistic minimum if you want the chip to hold its boost clocks under sustained load. Gaming-wise it's fast but not the fastest; the 9800X3D beats it on frame rates for much less money. And if your work leans specifically on cache-heavy simulation, the 9950X3D below is worth the comparison.
