Build now, add the GPU later
The 3400G exists for one situation, and it handles it better than anything else at this price: you need a working PC today and the graphics card comes next payday. Vega 11 is genuinely playable — CS2, Valorant, Rocket League, Dota, older AAA titles at 720p–1080p on lower settings. It is not going to run Cyberpunk. But it means you skip the R4 000 entry GPU entirely, spend that money on RAM and an SSD instead, and drop a proper card in when you're ready. Nothing else needs replacing when you do.
Where it shows its age
Four cores and eight threads was mainstream in 2019 and is entry-level now. Modern games that expect six or more cores will bottleneck it, and if you pair it with anything above an RTX 4060 you'll feel the CPU holding the card back. It's PCIe 3.0 and DDR4 only. Buy it as a stepping stone or an office/HTPC brain — if this is meant to be a gaming CPU for the next five years, the Ryzen 5 5600 further up this page is the honest recommendation.
FEATURES:
- Vega 11 graphics remove the need for a discrete card on day one
- Unlocked for overclocking on any B450/B550/X570 board
- 65W means a cheap cooler and a cheap PSU are both fine
- AM4 platform — enormous second-hand motherboard supply in SA
- Drops straight into a Ryzen 5000 upgrade path later

Why AMD?
AM4 is the longest-running consumer socket in the industry, which is why a board bought for this chip can still take a Ryzen 7 5800X3D years later. Every AMD processor from AZonline is genuine boxed stock carrying a 3 Year warranty.
