Better than a headset mic, honestly described
A headset microphone sits off to the side of your mouth and picks up breath and plosives. A desk microphone like the Pulsar is positioned properly and uses a larger capsule, which is why your voice sounds fuller and clearer to the team or the stream. The 100Hz to 16kHz response covers the whole vocal range, and USB-A means it works the moment you plug it in — no interface, no phantom power, no drivers.
Omnidirectional: what that means for your room
This is the caveat. Omnidirectional means the mic picks up equally from every direction, which is excellent for group calls or recording two people at one desk, and less ideal if you have a loud mechanical keyboard, a noisy PC fan, or traffic outside. It will capture all of it. For a solo streamer in a busy room, a cardioid mic like the PCBuilder Cast Core at R699 rejects sound from behind and would serve you better.
