Who it suits
This 8GB module is the straightforward upgrade for a DDR4 laptop with one free slot, taking a 4GB machine to 12GB or an 8GB machine to 16GB in dual-channel. It suits office, school and home laptops that slow down with many tabs open. At 3200MHz it matches the top speed most later DDR4 laptops support. If your laptop tops out at 2666MHz it will run at that speed. Skip it if you edit video or run virtual machines; a 16GB or 32GB module is the better buy there. When pairing, matching speed and rank with your existing module gives the best result.
Check compatibility before you order
This is a 260-pin DDR4 SO-DIMM for laptops and it will not fit a desktop motherboard. DDR3, DDR4 and DDR5 are keyed differently and are not interchangeable, so confirm your laptop takes DDR4 SO-DIMM. Many thin laptops have some or all of their memory soldered to the board with no free slot, so check your manual or open the base cover first. Also check the maximum capacity per slot and the maximum memory speed your laptop supports; a module faster than the laptop allows normally runs at the slower supported speed.
