Making a DDR3 machine tolerable again
Eight gigabytes on one stick is about as much as most DDR3 boards will accept per slot, which makes this the module of choice when an older desktop needs to stop swapping to disk. A machine that shipped with 4GB and now has to run a modern browser, an antivirus client and a video call is genuinely constrained, and adding capacity is the single cheapest thing that will make it feel better. It runs at the era-standard 1600MHz on 1.5V with no BIOS profile to enable, so in most Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell and AMD FX systems it is a straight drop-in.
Be clear about what you are buying
This is a legacy repair and life-extension part, not a gaming upgrade. DDR3 platforms are end of life, their CPUs sit far behind current entry-level chips, and no amount of RAM will change that — spend on this only when replacing the whole machine is not on the table. Even at 8GB you are at the point where modern titles struggle; 16GB is the practical floor for gaming. As a single module it also runs in single channel unless paired with a matching stick, which costs bandwidth on integrated graphics especially. And DDR3 will not fit a DDR4 or DDR5 board; the notch position differs and the module cannot seat. Check your motherboard's QVL for 8GB module support, since some older chipsets cap density per slot.

Before you buy
Will this memory work in my PC?
This is DDR3 rated at 1600 MT/s. Your motherboard has to support the same generation - DDR4 and DDR5 modules are keyed differently and will not physically fit the wrong board. The rated speed needs the memory profile (XMP on Intel, EXPO on AMD) switched on in the BIOS; without it the kit runs at the board’s default speed.
What exactly is in this kit?
8GB in total, supplied as 1 matched modules. Modules sold together are tested to run as a set, which is why a kit is the safer buy than two single sticks bought separately. Fit them in the slots your motherboard manual specifies for dual channel - usually the second and fourth from the CPU.
Is it in stock, and when will it ship?

What does delivery cost, and how long does it take?
We deliver by courier anywhere in South Africa, and delivery is R180 on orders under R2 500 and free on orders of R2 500 or more. It takes 1-3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and areas within 100km of them, and 2-4 working days to areas more than 100km from a major centre, counted from the day the order is dispatched. Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, Gauteng, by arrangement - message us first so we can have the order picked and waiting. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday.
What warranty does it carry, and how do I claim?
The warranty period for this product is listed at the end of the Specifications section above. Claims go through us, not the manufacturer - contact us with your order number and a description of the fault and we will handle it from there. Separately from any warranty, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe or not fit for their intended purpose.
What if I change my mind?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind - longer than the seven days the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, and we pay the return shipping. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 30 days of the return reaching us.
