A small Gen3 NVMe stick for a boot drive that leaves SATA behind.
The Patriot P300 is a 128GB M.2 2280 NVMe drive on a PCIe Gen3 x4 controller. Even at this modest capacity it reads roughly three times faster than any 2.5" SATA drive can, because it is not limited by the SATA interface. Use it as an operating system and applications drive, with bulk storage on a second disk. It is the 80mm M.2 stick most desktop boards and full-size laptops accept.
Key Features
- Up to 1,600MB/s read and 600MB/s write: roughly triple the read throughput a SATA drive can reach, since NVMe is not capped at the SATA ceiling.
- 290K read / 150K write random 4K IOPS: high random performance for boot, application launches and general responsiveness.
- PCIe Gen3 x4, NVMe 1.3: built on Patriot's latest Gen3 x4 controller, in the M.2 2280 form factor.
- HMB technology: Host Memory Buffer support, which lets the drive borrow a slice of system RAM to keep its mapping tables quick.
- NANDXtend ECC and end-to-end data path protection: error correction and data integrity across the whole transfer path, plus wear levelling and thermal management.
- 40TB written endurance: a published TBW rating for the 128GB model.
- 2.07W under load, 0.37W idle: low enough to help extend laptop battery life.
- Check the slot: confirm your system's M.2 slot length, keying and PCIe generation before ordering.
