Quiet enough for open-plan offices
Silent Red takes the light 45 cN linear feel of MX Red and adds CHERRY's patented damping to cut down the clack at the top and bottom of each stroke, which makes it the set to choose for shared offices, late-night gaming or anyone on frequent calls. The damping does change the feel: travel is slightly shorter at 3.7 mm and bottoming out feels softer, which some users find mushy. CHERRY rates the silent version for over 50 million keystrokes, half the rating of the standard MX2A switches. The RGB housing still lets per-key lighting through. This set costs more than the other MX2A options.
Before you buy: compatibility
These are full-height MX-style 3-pin switches. Keychron lists them for hot-swappable K-series boards, the normal-profile K Pro and K Max models, hot-swap C and C Pro, and the V, V Max, Q, Q Pro and Q Max ranges, plus Lemokey L and P keyboards. They will not fit any low-profile keyboard, and a board without hot-swap sockets means desoldering every switch. Each set has 110 switches, enough for a full-size layout with a few spares, but check your exact key count before you order for a larger board.
