The classic light linear, updated
MX Red is the light, smooth linear switch that much of the gaming world grew up on, and the MX2A revision keeps its 45 cN operating force and 2.0 mm pre-travel while adding a barrel-shaped spring and factory ring lubrication for a smoother, less scratchy stroke. It suits fast gaming and quick typists who like a light touch. The trade-off of any light linear is accidental presses if you rest your fingers heavily on the keys; heavy-handed typists may prefer a tactile Brown. The RGB housing lets per-key lighting through, and CHERRY rates the switch for more than 100 million keystrokes.
Before you buy: compatibility
These are full-height MX-style 3-pin switches. Keychron lists them for hot-swappable K-series boards, the normal-profile K Pro and K Max models, hot-swap C and C Pro, and the V, V Max, Q, Q Pro and Q Max ranges, plus Lemokey L and P keyboards. They will not fit any low-profile keyboard, and a board without hot-swap sockets means desoldering every switch. Each set has 110 switches, enough for a full-size layout with a few spares, but check your exact key count before you order for a larger board.
