Built for studios and serious creators
Prompter XL is Elgato's large-format teleprompter, with a display double the size and triple the resolution of the original Prompter. Script text stays legible from up to 4.6m, so presenters can stand back from the camera instead of hunching over a desk. It mounts on professional tripods or C-stands, and the aluminium camera bracket takes DSLRs, mirrorless and studio cameras with up to 22cm of body and lens. Nine step-up rings from 49 to 82mm and two backplates are included. Elgato's free Camera Hub adds a script manager, Voice Sync scrolling and Stream Deck control, and the screen doubles as a second monitor between shoots.
Is it too much prompter?
For a webcam or phone setup at a desk, the smaller Elgato Prompter is cheaper and lighter. Prompter XL weighs 3.37kg with its camera bracket, so it needs a sturdy tripod or C-stand, not a desk clamp. Check your system: Windows 11 or macOS 13 or newer with a USB-C 3.2 port, and Voice Sync needs an NVIDIA RTX GPU or an Apple M1 or better. The beamsplitter glass lets 70% of light through, so you'll lose a little exposure and should light your subject accordingly. Wide lenses beyond about 94 degrees diagonal will see the hood.
