Drivers that reach 40kHz — double the usual 20kHz ceiling, and the reason the HS80 sounds open where cheaper headsets sound boxed in.
Quick Specs
- 50mm custom-tuned drivers, 20Hz–40kHz frequency response
- Dolby Audio surround sound for positional accuracy
- Detachable omni-directional boom mic, 100Hz–10kHz, -40dB ±3dB
- Per-earcup RGB lighting controlled through Corsair iCUE
- 371g, USB wired connection
Range that changes what you hear
Most gaming headsets stop at 20kHz because that is the edge of human hearing. The HS80's 50mm custom-tuned drivers run to 40kHz, and while you do not hear those frequencies directly, drivers built to reproduce them behave better inside the audible band — less strain at the top end, cleaner cymbals and consonants, more separation. Underneath, they still go down to 20Hz for the bass. Dolby Audio surround handles positional placement, so footsteps and gunfire land in the right direction rather than just left or right.
Wired on purpose
This is the USB version, and the trade is deliberate: no battery to charge, no radio to drop, and a stable latency-free signal on PC. The 371g weight is mid-pack — heavier than the HS55, lighter than most wireless designs — and the mic detaches when you want the headset to look like headphones. RGB on the earcups is driven by iCUE, so it syncs with Corsair keyboards, mice, fans and coolers rather than running its own separate profile. If you play on console, note that USB-only means limited console support — the HS55 or a VOID is the better match there.
