- 4TB portable hard drive
- USB-C, up to 130MB/s, bus powered
- Built-in password protection

- LaCie Toolkit backup software and Rescue Data Recovery
Private storage for creative work
The Mobile Drive Secure pairs LaCie's Neil Poulton-designed case, made with at least 25% recycled aluminium and plastic, with built-in password protection. At 4TB it's sized for a photographer's full archive, a designer's project folders or a complete laptop backup with room to grow. It plugs into USB-C on Macs and Windows laptops, works on USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 ports, and connects to USB-C iPads and iPhones, all on bus power. LaCie Toolkit sets up one-click or scheduled backups and keeps folders in sync, and the drive works with macOS and Windows straight away.
Speed and alternatives
The interface supports USB4 and Thunderbolt 4, but the hard drive inside is rated at up to 130MB/s, so it's a storage and backup drive rather than one to edit 4K footage from; a portable SSD is better for that. If you don't need password protection, the standard LaCie Mobile Drive costs less. For travel and outdoor shoots, the LaCie Rugged USB-C is built to handle drops and rain. Choose a password you'll remember, because the protection only works if it can't be bypassed. The 2TB version is the cheaper option if 4TB is more than you need.
