Who it is for
MasterHUB is aimed at streamers, video editors and designers who want physical controls instead of hunting through menus. Streamers can switch scenes and ride audio levels mid-stream, editors can scrub timelines with the rollers, and designers can map tools and shortcuts to the display keys. If all you need is a handful of scene buttons, a simpler fixed stream deck is cheaper and quicker to set up. MasterHUB makes most sense if you will use the faders and rollers as well as the keys, or expect to add modules later.
Modular trade-offs
The appeal is flexibility: modules attach to the Base, and further modules such as the knob and encoder-with-display units are part of the same ecosystem. The trade-off is that the experience relies on the MasterHUB software, and Cooler Master lists app support for OBS, Streamlabs, Twitch, MasterCTRL, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, with more to come. If your workflow lives in other software, check current integrations first. Keep firmware and software updated, as Cooler Master publishes an upgrade guide for both.
