Built for recorders that record and analyse
SkyHawk AI is Seagate's surveillance drive for network video recorders that run video analytics on top of continuous recording. It's rated for up to 64 HD camera streams plus 32 AI streams at the same time, and its firmware is tuned to avoid dropped frames when the write load is heavy. Conventional magnetic recording (CMR) and rotational vibration sensors keep it consistent in multi-bay recorders, and Seagate rates it for unlimited bays, 24x7 operation and 550TB of data a year. SkyHawk Health Management works with compatible NVR systems to flag problems early.
Longer retention for busy sites
16TB suits recorders covering warehouses, schools, estates or retail stores where you need weeks of footage from many 4K cameras. It has the same helium platform as the 12TB, 20TB and 24TB models: 512MB cache, 285MB/s, 2.5 million hour MTBF and 7.8W read/write power, so you're choosing on capacity alone. Check your NVR's maximum supported drive size before ordering, as older recorders may top out below 16TB. The minimum operating temperature is 10°C (drive reported). For a basic home DVR, the standard SkyHawk is the cheaper choice, and this drive isn't meant for use as a PC boot drive.
