The first build here that is current on every front — AM5, DDR5 6000, an RTX 5050 and a 7,100MB/s drive.
Quick Specs
- AMD Ryzen 5 8400F, 6 cores / 12 threads, 4.2GHz base, up to 4.7GHz
- GeForce RTX 5050 8GB GDDR6
- 16GB DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 8GB)
- 1TB Gen4 NVMe SSD — 7,100MB/s read
- 650W 80+ Bronze · Windows 11 Home + 1 month PC Game Pass
Why this is the turning point in the range
Everything below the RECON is on the end-of-line AM4 platform with DDR4 memory and an older graphics card. This machine moves to AM5, DDR5 at 6000MHz, a current-generation RTX 5050 with 8GB, and a drive twice as fast as the AM4 builds' at 7,100MB/s read. It also steps up to a 650W 80+ Bronze supply and the larger HIDEOUT chassis with USB-C on the front. For about R5 000 over the PATHFINDER you get a machine with years of upgrade path in front of it rather than behind.
Worth knowing
The 8400F is an F-series chip — no integrated graphics — which is fine here because the RTX 5050 is included, but it means the machine will not display anything if the card is ever removed. Memory sits in a 2-slot board, so a future upgrade means replacing the pair rather than adding to it. Cooling is a single 120mm air cooler, adequate for this processor.

Questions
Before you buy
What is in this PC?
It is built around a Ryzen 5 8400F processor, RTX 5050 8GB graphics and 16GB DDR5 of memory. The complete parts list, including the storage, power supply and case, is in the Specifications section above.
Does it arrive ready to use?
It arrives assembled and tested - you connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse and switch it on. Whether an operating system is included is shown in the Specifications and What’s in the box lists above; if it is not listed, budget for a Windows licence, which we also sell. We do not ship a monitor, keyboard or mouse with a desktop unless the listing says so.
Can I upgrade it later?
Yes - it is built from standard desktop parts, so the graphics card, memory and storage can all be changed later within the limits of the case, motherboard and power supply. If you tell us what you are planning we will check the clearance and wattage before you order.
Is it in stock, and when will it ship?
Yes - this one is in stock. Order before 12:00 on a working day and it ships the same day; after that it goes out the next working day. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, so an order placed over a weekend or a public holiday ships on the next working day.
What does delivery cost, and how long does it take?
We deliver by courier anywhere in South Africa, and delivery is free on every order. It takes 1-3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and areas within 100km of them, and 2-4 working days to areas more than 100km from a major centre, counted from the day the order is dispatched. Need it sooner? Express delivery is 1-2 working days for R150 - choose it at checkout. We do not ship outside South Africa.
Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, Gauteng, by arrangement - message us first so we can have the order picked and waiting. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday.
What warranty does it carry, and how do I claim?
The warranty period for this product is listed at the end of the Specifications section above. Claims go through us, not the manufacturer - contact us with your order number and a description of the fault and we will handle it from there. Separately from any warranty, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe or not fit for their intended purpose.
What if I change my mind?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind - longer than the seven days the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, and we pay the return shipping. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 30 days of the return reaching us.
How can I pay?
Payments are processed by Stitch. At the last step of checkout you are taken to Stitch’s secure page to pay, and brought back here once it is done. Your card details are entered on Stitch’s secure, PCI-compliant page and never touch our systems.
