Hidden cables, flagship platform
The PZ suffix marks this as a Project Zero board: the power, SATA, USB and fan connectors sit on the back of the PCB, so every cable routes behind the motherboard tray and disappears. Paired with a compatible back-connector case, the result is the cleanest possible build with nothing crossing the window. Underneath that, it is a full X870E Tomahawk Max, with dual-chipset PCIe lane counts, PCIe 5.0 graphics and NVMe, USB4 and Wi-Fi 7, and power delivery that will hold a Ryzen 9 9950X3D at full boost through long render or gaming sessions.
Read this before you buy
Project Zero only works with a case designed for rear connectors. A standard ATX chassis has no cut-outs for these headers and the board will not fit properly, so budget for a compatible case in the same purchase. That narrows your options and adds cost, and it makes future case swaps harder. Beyond the connector layout it carries the usual Tomahawk positioning: no premium ESS audio DAC and no 10G LAN. If you have a case you already like, buy the standard X870E Tomahawk WiFi and save the money for other components.
