A flat 31.5-inch Rapid VA panel with 3500:1 contrast, for people who watch and play in a dark room.
Quick Specs
- 31.5" Rapid VA panel, flat
- 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) at 180Hz
- 0.5ms GtG (min) response
- 3500:1 static contrast
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4a, 2x HDMI 2.0b
VA contrast against IPS viewing angles
This is the real decision with this monitor. VA panels hold roughly three times the static contrast of the IPS screens elsewhere in the MAG range, so night scenes, letterboxed film and dark game environments look properly black instead of grey. What you give up is off-axis consistency: sit well off to one side of a 31.5-inch VA panel and the corners shift in brightness and colour in a way IPS does not. At normal seating distance, square on, that is a non-issue. If you share the screen with someone sitting beside you, or you edit colour, pick the IPS 275QF instead.
Size, resolution and cable choice
At 31.5 inches, 2560 x 1440 works out near 93 pixels per inch. That is a step down in sharpness from the same resolution at 27 inches, so text is slightly softer, and in exchange you get a screen large enough to sit two full windows side by side comfortably. Rapid VA is MSI's faster VA tuning, which reduces the dark-transition smearing traditional VA panels are known for without removing it entirely. Use the supplied DisplayPort cable to get all 180Hz; the HDMI 2.0b inputs cap at 1440p and 144Hz.

Why MSI?
MSI is one of the few brands still shipping large flat VA panels rather than pushing every big screen into a curve, which matters if you want the contrast without the distortion. Local distribution and a 3 year warranty apply.

Questions
Before you buy
What do I need to run it at its full refresh rate?
To reach 180Hz at 2560 x 1440 you need a graphics card able to output that mode, a cable that supports it, and the refresh rate selected in Windows display settings - monitors often default to 60Hz out of the box. The ports on this panel are listed under Specifications above.
What sort of panel is it?
It is VA with a 0.5ms GtG response time. Panel type is the main thing that decides how a monitor looks off-centre and how it handles colour and contrast, so it is worth weighing against refresh rate rather than choosing on the headline number alone.
Can I wall-mount it or put it on an arm?
This is a 31.5 inch panel. Whether it takes a VESA mount, and at which spacing, is listed under Specifications - if a VESA size is shown there, any arm or bracket rated for that pattern and the monitor’s weight will fit. If you are not sure, send us the model of your arm and we will check.
Is it in stock, and when will it ship?
Yes - this one is in stock. Order before 12:00 on a working day and it ships the same day; after that it goes out the next working day. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, so an order placed over a weekend or a public holiday ships on the next working day.
What does delivery cost, and how long does it take?
We deliver by courier anywhere in South Africa, and delivery is R180 on orders under R2 500 and free on orders of R2 500 or more. It takes 1-3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and areas within 100km of them, and 2-4 working days to areas more than 100km from a major centre, counted from the day the order is dispatched. Need it sooner? Express delivery is 1-2 working days for R210, or R150 on orders of R2 500 or more - choose it at checkout. We do not ship outside South Africa.
Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, Gauteng, by arrangement - message us first so we can have the order picked and waiting. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday.
What warranty does it carry, and how do I claim?
The warranty period for this product is listed at the end of the Specifications section above. Claims go through us, not the manufacturer - contact us with your order number and a description of the fault and we will handle it from there. Separately from any warranty, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe or not fit for their intended purpose.
What if I change my mind?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind - longer than the seven days the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, and we pay the return shipping. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 30 days of the return reaching us.
How can I pay?
Payments are processed by Stitch. At the last step of checkout you are taken to Stitch’s secure page to pay, and brought back here once it is done. Your card details are entered on Stitch’s secure, PCI-compliant page and never touch our systems.
