Desktop-class chips in a 17-inch chassis

The Crosshair 17 HX AI is built for people who want to play current games at high settings on a large, sharp screen without a desktop. The Core Ultra 9 275HX is one of Intel's fastest laptop processors, so it also handles streaming, video editing and compiling. The RTX 5070 Laptop GPU runs at up to 115W with Dynamic Boost, which helps push the 2560 x 1600 panel towards its 240Hz refresh rate in lighter and esports titles. MSI's Cooler Boost 5 handles the heat, and the 24-zone RGB keyboard includes a Copilot key.

What to plan for

16GB of RAM is the minimum we would recommend for modern games. The laptop has two memory slots and supports up to 96GB, so upgrading to 32GB is straightforward, though depending on how the 16GB is fitted you may need to replace rather than add a module. The 1TB SSD fills quickly with large games, but there is a second M.2 slot (one Gen4, one Gen5-compatible). At 2.8kg with a 240W power brick, this is a desk-to-desk machine rather than one for daily commuting, and battery life under gaming load is short, as with all high-performance laptops. The 8GB of VRAM can limit texture settings in the most demanding new titles at QHD+.
