The Patriot Viper VP4000 Mini is an M.2 2230 drive — the short 30mm format, not the 80mm 2280 stick most desktop boards take. It is the size used by handheld gaming PCs, mini-PCs, some ultrabooks and compact form factor systems, where a full-length drive simply has nowhere to go.
On a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface it is rated at up to 5,000 MB/s read and 3,500 MB/s write, so you are not paying for the small footprint in speed. At 2TB it is a proper library drive: operating system, applications and a serious collection of games on a machine that previously made you choose.

- M.2 2230 form factor: the short 30mm M.2 stick for compact systems. Check your system's M.2 slot length, keying and PCIe generation before ordering — a 2230 drive will not fill a 2280 mounting point without an adapter bracket.
- PCIe Gen4 x4, NVMe 1.4: up to 5,000 MB/s read and 3,500 MB/s write.
- 2TB capacity: enough for large game libraries, video projects or photo archives, in a device that usually ships with a fraction of it.

Backed by a 5 year warranty. A 2TB drive formats to roughly 1.86TB usable. As with every consumer SSD, writes land fastest in cache and settle to a lower rate on very large sustained transfers. Before ordering, confirm your device takes a 2230-length M.2 drive — that is the whole point of this one, and the one thing worth checking twice.

Before you buy
Will this drive fit my motherboard?
It connects over NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 in the M.2 2230 form factor. Check that your board has a free slot of that type - an M.2 drive needs an M.2 socket of the right length, a SATA drive needs a SATA port and a power lead from the supply. A drive will still work in a slower slot than it is rated for, it just will not reach its full speed.
How much will actually fit on it?
It is a 2000GB drive. Formatted capacity always reads a little lower than the number on the box because drive makers count in decimal gigabytes and Windows reports binary ones - that is normal and not a fault. Leaving roughly ten percent free also helps an SSD hold its write speed over time.
Is it in stock, and when will it ship?

What does delivery cost, and how long does it take?
We deliver by courier anywhere in South Africa, and delivery is R180 on orders under R2 500 and free on orders of R2 500 or more. It takes 1-3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and areas within 100km of them, and 2-4 working days to areas more than 100km from a major centre, counted from the day the order is dispatched. Need it sooner? Express delivery is 1-2 working days for R210, or R150 on orders of R2 500 or more - choose it at checkout. We do not ship outside South Africa.
Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, Gauteng, by arrangement - message us first so we can have the order picked and waiting. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday.
What warranty does it carry, and how do I claim?
The warranty period for this product is listed at the end of the Specifications section above. Claims go through us, not the manufacturer - contact us with your order number and a description of the fault and we will handle it from there. Separately from any warranty, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe or not fit for their intended purpose.
What if I change my mind?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind - longer than the seven days the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, and we pay the return shipping. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 30 days of the return reaching us.
