Micro-weave, and why it feels different
Keychron uses a proprietary micro-weave rather than the standard cloth most mats share. The weave is finer, which gives a softer feel under the wrist and a slightly more controlled glide than the fast silk-processed surfaces — you can stop precisely on a target rather than skating past it. That suits low-sensitivity aiming and precision work in design software. It is a matter of preference rather than quality: if you want maximum speed, the Redragon Xeon is the faster mat.
Built to stay flat
Two details separate this from cheaper mats. The fabrics are specifically selected to resist wrinkling and shrinking, so the mat stays flat instead of developing ripples that catch the mouse. And the edges are flat-stitched rather than rolled, which protects against fraying without creating a raised lip your wrist has to cross. At 900 x 400mm it covers a full-size keyboard and mouse.
