Serious capacity for business and creative NAS
IronWolf Pro is Seagate's NAS drive for multi-user, always-on systems: small offices, video editors sharing footage, and anyone running backups for several machines to one box. It uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR), so heavy random writes and RAID rebuilds behave properly, and it has rotational vibration sensors to hold performance steady in a crowded chassis. Seagate rates it for an unlimited number of bays and 550TB of data a year. On compatible NAS systems, IronWolf Health Management surfaces drive health in the NAS software before problems become failures.
Bigger drives, longer rebuilds
At 20TB, a four-bay NAS in RAID 5 gives you about 60TB usable, which is a lot of storage for the bay count. The trade-off is rebuild time: replacing a failed 20TB drive takes many hours even at 285MB/s, so RAID 6 or SHR-2 is worth considering on larger arrays. It's a 7200 RPM drive at 20 dBA idle and 26 dBA seeking, so a NAS full of them is audible in a quiet room. If you only need a few terabytes for a home media server, the standard IronWolf costs less and runs cooler.
FEATURES:
- AgileArray firmware with dual-plane balancing and time-limited error recovery for RAID
- CMR recording for consistent multi-user performance
- Rotational vibration sensors for stable performance in multi-bay enclosures
- IronWolf Health Management on compatible NAS systems
- 3 years of Rescue Data Recovery Services (not available in all countries)
