One box for storage, cards and display
The 2big Dock is LaCie's desktop RAID unit for creative workstations, and the 20TB version suits editors working with multi-camera 4K or long-form projects. Two hot-swappable Seagate IronWolf Pro 7200 RPM drives, rated for 300TB a year, ship in RAID 0 and can be changed to RAID 1 or JBOD in LaCie Toolkit. Across the front are CFexpress Type B, CFast 2.0 and UHS-II SD slots and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 hub that charges a phone at 7.5W, so you can offload cards straight to the array. It also works with Thunderbolt 2 Macs via Apple's adapter and with USB-C iPads.
Choosing a RAID mode
RAID 0 gives the full 20TB and the fastest transfers, but a single drive failure loses the whole array. RAID 1 mirrors the two drives, leaving about 10TB usable but keeping your data available if one drive dies. Neither replaces an off-site backup. On the back, a second Thunderbolt 3 port daisy-chains up to five more Thunderbolt devices and DisplayPort 1.4 runs one 8K 30Hz or 4K 120Hz screen. The dock runs from the included power supply. If you need less space, the 16TB version has the same ports, while the LaCie d2 Professional is a cheaper single-drive option.
