An everyday screen for home and office
The S30GD is Samsung's entry-level 24-inch monitor, and it does the basics properly. The IPS panel holds its colour and contrast from wide angles (178° both ways), which matters when two people look at one screen or when you sit off-centre. The 100Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and cursor movement noticeably smoother than a 60Hz office screen. Note that it ships set to 60Hz, so switch it to 100Hz in the monitor menu and your graphics settings. The slim bezels on three sides also make it a tidy choice for a dual-monitor desk.
Who should look elsewhere
Gamers who want high frame rates should skip this one. It has no FreeSync or G-Sync and a 5ms response time, so it is fine for casual games but not competitive play. Connectivity is limited to one HDMI 1.4 and one VGA port, with no DisplayPort, USB-C or speakers, so check your PC or laptop has HDMI. The stand tilts only (-2° to 21°). For more desk space, the 27" S30GD uses the same panel type at a larger size, though at 1080p it looks slightly softer.
FEATURES:
- IPS panel with 178° viewing angles for consistent colour
- 100Hz refresh rate for smoother motion than 60Hz screens
- Slim three-sided borderless design
- Eye Saver Mode and Flicker Free technology
- Game Mode for adjusting colour and contrast
