Compared with the Z890 version of this kit, it uses a B860 board with PCIe 4.0 support rather than PCIe 5.0, a Micro-ATX layout with two DIMM slots rather than ATX with four, and 16GB of slower memory instead of 32GB of DDR5-6400. It suits gamers and home users building in a smaller Micro-ATX case who want a modern LGA1851 platform without paying for features they will not use.

Trade-offs and what you still need

With only two DIMM slots and both filled, upgrading memory later means replacing the 8GB sticks rather than adding to them, so heavy multitaskers and creators may prefer the 32GB Z890 kit.
