What QD-OLED does that an LCD cannot

Every pixel makes its own light, so black pixels are simply off. A starfield has actual black between the stars rather than the grey glow an edge-lit LCD produces, and there is no halo around bright objects because there is no backlight to bleed. The quantum dot layer pushes colour volume well past a normal panel: MSI lists 99% DCI-P3 and 138% sRGB. Motion is the other half of it. At 0.03ms the pixels change faster than the 240Hz refresh needs, so there is no overshoot, no ghost trail and none of the overdrive tuning LCD owners fiddle with.

Burn-in, brightness and who should skip this

OLED burn-in is a real risk and worth being straight about. A static taskbar, a fixed HUD or a spreadsheet grid left on screen for eight hours a day, every day, can eventually leave a faint permanent mark. MSI includes panel burn-in in the 3 year warranty and builds in pixel shift and panel refresh routines, but if this is going to be a work monitor showing the same layout all day, an IPS screen is the safer purchase. Brightness is the other trade-off: 250 nits full-screen SDR is dimmer than most LCDs, so a bright, sunlit room will not flatter it. HDR peaks at 1000 nits on a 3% window.

MSI was early to bring QD-OLED down from flagship pricing into the MAG range, and it backs the panel rather than excluding the one failure mode buyers worry about. The monitor carries a 3 year warranty that includes burn-in.

Questions

Before you buy

What do I need to run it at its full refresh rate?
To reach 240Hz at 2560 x 1440 you need a graphics card able to output that mode, a cable that supports it, and the refresh rate selected in Windows display settings - monitors often default to 60Hz out of the box. The ports on this panel are listed under Specifications above.
What sort of panel is it?
It is QD-OLED with a 0.03ms GtG response time. Panel type is the main thing that decides how a monitor looks off-centre and how it handles colour and contrast, so it is worth weighing against refresh rate rather than choosing on the headline number alone.
Can I wall-mount it or put it on an arm?
This is a 26.5 inch panel. Whether it takes a VESA mount, and at which spacing, is listed under Specifications - if a VESA size is shown there, any arm or bracket rated for that pattern and the monitor’s weight will fit. If you are not sure, send us the model of your arm and we will check.
Is it in stock, and when will it ship?
This one is out of stock at the moment. Stock does come back in - WhatsApp us on 079 491 0181 with the model and we will tell you what the supplier is showing and let you know when it lands, rather than leaving you to keep checking the page.
What does delivery cost, and how long does it take?
We deliver by courier anywhere in South Africa, and delivery is R180 on orders under R2 500 and free on orders of R2 500 or more. It takes 1-3 working days to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and areas within 100km of them, and 2-4 working days to areas more than 100km from a major centre, counted from the day the order is dispatched. Need it sooner? Express delivery is 1-2 working days for R210, or R150 on orders of R2 500 or more - choose it at checkout. We do not ship outside South Africa.
Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from 11 Voortrekker Avenue, Edenvale, Gauteng, by arrangement - message us first so we can have the order picked and waiting. We are open 09:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday.
What warranty does it carry, and how do I claim?
The warranty period for this product is listed at the end of the Specifications section above. Claims go through us, not the manufacturer - contact us with your order number and a description of the fault and we will handle it from there. Separately from any warranty, the Consumer Protection Act gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe or not fit for their intended purpose.
What if I change my mind?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind - longer than the seven days the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, and we pay the return shipping. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 30 days of the return reaching us.
How can I pay?
Payments are processed by Stitch. At the last step of checkout you are taken to Stitch’s secure page to pay, and brought back here once it is done. Your card details are entered on Stitch’s secure, PCI-compliant page and never touch our systems.
