For NAS arrays that need a lot of space per bay
This is the drive for an office file server, a video team's shared storage or a Plex and backup box that's outgrowing smaller disks. IronWolf Pro uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR), so it handles sustained writes and RAID rebuilds without the slow-downs of SMR drives, and rotational vibration sensors keep it steady alongside other drives in a multi-bay chassis. Seagate rates it for unlimited bays and 550TB of data per year, running 24x7. IronWolf Health Management, on compatible NAS systems, reports drive condition through the NAS interface so you can act early.
What to weigh up at 24TB
Four of these in RAID 5 give you roughly 72TB usable, but a single rebuild at this capacity takes a long time, so RAID 6 or SHR-2 is the safer choice on bigger arrays. Note the minimum operating temperature is 5°C, slightly higher than the 12TB and 20TB models, which won't matter indoors. It's a 7200 RPM helium drive at 20 dBA idle and 26 dBA seeking, so it's not silent. If you're buying for a two-bay home NAS, a smaller capacity often gives better value per terabyte, and the standard IronWolf is cheaper still.
FEATURES:

- 512MB cache and CMR recording for consistent multi-user performance
- Rotational vibration sensors for stable performance in multi-bay enclosures
