Ultrawide space for games and work
The Odyssey G5 C34G55T gives you about a third more horizontal space than a 27" 1440p screen, which suits racing games, flight sims and anything with a wide field of view, as well as side-by-side windows for work. The 1000R curve is aggressive, matching the curvature of the human eye, so the edges of the panel stay in your peripheral view from a normal seating distance. The VA panel's 2,500:1 static contrast gives deeper blacks than a typical IPS screen, which helps in dark scenes. Driving 3440 x 1440 at high frame rates needs a capable graphics card, so budget for that.
What to know before you buy
Some games, and most video content, are 16:9 and will show black bars on the sides. The 1000R curve also makes the screen less suited to precise straight-line design work. The stand is a simple tilt-only design (-2° to 18°), so if you want height adjustment, plan for a monitor arm on the 75 x 75mm VESA mount. There are no speakers, and only one DisplayPort and one HDMI input. The 1ms figure is MPRT and needs the monitor's Extreme mode enabled. Brightness is a modest 250 cd/m², so HDR10 support is a basic HDR signal capability rather than a high-brightness HDR experience.
