More screen for documents, browsing and video
This is the 27-inch version of Samsung's S30GD. You get the same IPS panel type, with 178° viewing angles and steady colour, at a size that is easier on the eyes for long spreadsheets and side-by-side windows. The 100Hz refresh makes scrolling smoother than a standard 60Hz screen. It ships at 60Hz, so set it to 100Hz in the monitor menu and in Windows. Thin bezels on three sides keep it tidy on a desk, and the 100 x 100mm VESA mount lets you move it to an arm later.
The trade-off of 1080p at 27 inches
Full HD stretched over 27 inches gives a lower pixel density than the 24" model, so text looks a little softer up close. If you sit near the screen or work with fine detail, a 1440p monitor is the better buy. There is no FreeSync, no DisplayPort or USB-C, and no speakers, and the stand only tilts (-2° to 21°). For a general home or office screen at a sensible distance, though, it is a solid, simple choice.
