The 2026 refresh of the G24i moves the panel from 180Hz to 200Hz and upgrades the adaptive sync to FreeSync Premium.

- 200Hz refresh rate
- 1ms response time
- FreeSync Premium

What actually changed from the 2024 G24i
Two things, and it is worth knowing exactly which two before you pay the extra R400. The panel refresh goes from 180Hz to 200Hz, which is about a 1.1 millisecond shorter frame time. That is a real difference if you play competitive shooters at a level where you already notice 180 versus 144, and it is invisible if you do not. The second change is FreeSync Premium instead of plain FreeSync, which adds a low framerate compensation requirement, so the adaptive refresh keeps working when your framerate drops below the panel's minimum rather than falling back to tearing.
Who should buy the older one instead
If your graphics card cannot already push past 180fps in the games you play, the 200Hz ceiling is a number on a box. A GTX 1660 or an RX 6600 running current titles at high settings sits well under that, and the cheaper 2024 G24i does the same job. The FreeSync Premium upgrade cuts the other way though: it matters most precisely when your framerate is low and unstable, which is the situation a modest card is usually in. Decide on that basis rather than on the refresh figure.

Why Xiaomi?
Xiaomi's yearly monitor refreshes change the panel rather than the marketing, which is why the 2026 G24i is a specification step and not a new name. Local stock is carried by Syntech and backed by a 2 year warranty.
