Going to 100Hz does nothing for your spreadsheet totals, but it makes scrolling through a long document or a code file visibly smoother and it takes some of the strain out of a full day of reading on screen. It is not a gaming figure; the 6ms response time means fast motion will smear and you should look at the G24i if games are the point. Think of the extra 40Hz as comfort rather than performance, which at a R2 299 asking price is a fair way to spend it.

Why the DisplayPort matters more than you think

Cheap office monitors usually ship HDMI-only, and if your workstation or dock has already spent its HDMI port you end up buying an adapter that then limits the refresh rate. DP 1.4 here takes the full 1080p at 100Hz cleanly and daisy-chains better through docks. Note the honest limits: this is a 250 cd/m² panel with 1000:1 contrast and 16.7 million colours, so it is a working screen, not a colour-grading one, and the stand does not adjust for height.

FEATURES:

100Hz refresh on a 23.8" IPS panel

DisplayPort 1.4 input plus HDMI

IPS viewing angles, so a colleague beside you sees the same colours

16:9, 1000:1 contrast, 16.7 million colours

24W rated power draw

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Xiaomi Monitor A24i (P24FBA-RAGL)

Screen size: 23.8 inch (24" class)

Panel: IPS

Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Refresh rate: 100Hz

Response time: 6ms (typical)

Brightness: 250 cd/m² (typical)

Contrast: 1000:1 (typical)

Aspect ratio: 16:9

Colour depth: 16.7 million colours

Ports: DisplayPort 1.4 x1, HDMI x1, DC in

Power: 12V 2A input, 24W rated

Warranty: 2 year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

Xiaomi A24i display

Stand base with screws

Mounting bracket

Screwdriver

HDMI cable

Power adapter

User manual

Why Xiaomi?

Xiaomi puts a DisplayPort and a 100Hz IPS panel in a monitor that competitors ship at 60Hz over HDMI alone.
