Its firmware is designed for continuous 24x7 video writing from up to 64 HD cameras, and it supports recorders with up to 16 bays. Rotational vibration sensors keep performance steady when several drives share a chassis, and tarnish-resistant components help in dusty or humid installations. Power draw is low at 5.3W while working and 3.4W idle, which keeps a recorder cooler in a cramped cabinet. SkyHawk Health Management works with compatible recorders to warn you before a drive fails.

SkyHawk or SkyHawk AI?

SkyHawk is rated for 180TB a year and a 1 million hour MTBF, which is plenty for typical home and small-business systems. If your NVR runs AI analytics, has more than 16 bays or records many 4K streams continuously, SkyHawk AI is the better buy: it's rated for 550TB a year and up to 2.5 million hours, with a 5 year warranty instead of this drive's 3 years. 6TB is a good middle capacity for an 8 to 16 camera system. Like all surveillance drives it's tuned for writing video, not for use as a PC boot drive.

FEATURES:

Firmware built for 24x7 video recording from up to 64 HD cameras

SkyHawk Health Management on compatible DVR/NVR systems

RAID RapidRebuild for volume rebuilds up to 3x faster

Rotational vibration sensors for multi-bay recorders

3 years of Rescue Data Recovery Services (not available in all countries)

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Seagate SkyHawk 6TB (ST6000VX009)

Capacity: 6TB

Form factor: 3.5"

Interface: SATA 6Gb/s

Recording technology: CMR

Cache: 256MB

Max sustained transfer rate (OD): 180MB/s

HD cameras supported: Up to 64

Drive bays supported: Up to 16

Rotational vibration sensors: Yes

Workload rate limit: 180TB/year

MTBF: 1,000,000 hours

Load/unload cycles: 600,000

Power-on hours: 8,760 per year

Nonrecoverable read errors: 1 per 10E14

Startup current (12V, typical): 1.8A

Average operating power: 5.3W

Idle power (average): 3.4W

Standby / sleep power: 0.25W

Operating temperature: 0°C ambient to 65°C drive reported

Dimensions: 26.1 x 101.6 x 146.99mm

Weight: 630g

Rescue Data Recovery Services: 3 years

Warranty: 3 Year Limited

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

1x Seagate SkyHawk 6TB 3.5" hard drive

Why Seagate?

Seagate has made hard drives since 1979, and SkyHawk is built specifically for surveillance, with compatibility across major DVR and NVR systems.
