Plug it into a Windows PC or laptop, it appears as a drive, and you drag and drop files onto it. There's no software to install and no power adapter, since it runs from the USB port. 1TB is plenty for documents, school projects, a photo library or moving files between home and work, and the compact case slips into a laptop bag. Mac users can use it, but it has to be reformatted first, which wipes it. As a mechanical hard drive, it's slower than a portable SSD and shouldn't be bumped while running. The included cable is USB 3.0, so a USB-C-only laptop needs an adapter.
