Samsung rates this capacity at up to 2,000MB/s write as well as read, slightly ahead of the smaller T9 models on paper, so offloading multiple camera cards or rendering to the drive is quick. Dynamic Thermal Guard keeps speeds up over long transfers, and the textured shell is drop resistant up to 3m, which matters when the drive travels in a camera bag.

Check your ports before you pay for speed

The full speed needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps) port, found mainly on desktop motherboards and some Windows laptops. On Macs and laptops limited to 10Gbps USB, it runs at about half speed, similar to a T7. Also remember that a large single drive is a single point of failure, so keep a second copy of important work. It is covered by Samsung's 5 year limited warranty.

FEATURES:

Up to 2,000MB/s read and write over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2

Dynamic Thermal Guard for sustained performance

Drop resistant up to 3m, non-slip textured finish

AES 256-bit hardware encryption with password protection

Samsung Magician for health monitoring and firmware updates

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Samsung Portable SSD T9 (MU-PG4T0B/WW)

Capacity: 4TB

Interface: USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps)

Connector: USB Type-C

Sequential read: Up to 2,000MB/s

Sequential write: Up to 2,000MB/s

UASP mode: Supported

Encryption: AES 256-bit hardware encryption

Drop resistance: Up to 3m

Operating temperature: 0°C to 60°C

Compatibility: Windows, macOS, Android, game consoles, smart TVs, cameras

Dimensions: 88 x 60 x 14mm

Weight: 122g

Colour: Black

Warranty: 5 Year limited

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

1x Samsung T9 4TB Portable SSD

1x USB Type-C to Type-C cable

1x USB Type-C to Type-A cable

Why Samsung?

Samsung designs the flash, controller and firmware in its portable SSDs, and the T9 is the top of its portable range.
