That makes it a good scratch or offload drive for 4K and 8K video, large RAW photo sets and game libraries. Samsung lists compatibility with high-end cameras recording up to 12K, as well as PCs, Android devices and consoles. Dynamic Thermal Guard holds performance during long sustained transfers, and the rubberised, dotted shell gives grip and survives drops of up to 3m.

Check your ports before you pay for speed

USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is mostly found on desktop motherboards and some Windows laptops. Most Macs, including Thunderbolt models, and many laptops only run USB at 10Gbps, where the T9 performs roughly like the cheaper T7 at about 1,000MB/s. If you don't have a Gen 2x2 port, the T7 is the smarter buy. At 122g it is also heavier than the T7. In its favour, the T9 carries a 5 year warranty rather than 3.

FEATURES:

Up to 2,000MB/s read and 1,950MB/s write over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2

Dynamic Thermal Guard for sustained performance

Drop resistant up to 3m, non-slip textured finish

AES 256-bit hardware encryption with password protection

Samsung Magician for health monitoring and firmware updates

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Samsung Portable SSD T9 (MU-PG1T0B/WW)

Capacity: 1TB

Interface: USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps)

Connector: USB Type-C

Sequential read: Up to 2,000MB/s

Sequential write: Up to 1,950MB/s

UASP mode: Supported

Encryption: AES 256-bit hardware encryption

Drop resistance: Up to 3m

Operating temperature: 0°C to 60°C

Compatibility: Windows, macOS, Android, game consoles, smart TVs, cameras

Dimensions: 88 x 60 x 14mm

Weight: 122g

Colour: Black

Warranty: 5 Year limited

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

1x Samsung T9 1TB Portable SSD

1x USB Type-C to Type-C cable

1x USB Type-C to Type-A cable

Why Samsung?

Samsung designs the flash, controller and firmware in its portable SSDs, and the T9 is the top of its portable range.
