It is roughly the size of a credit card, uses a metal shell that survives drops of up to 2m, and works with Windows, macOS, Android phones and tablets, and game consoles. At up to 1,050MB/s it moves large video files or photo libraries quickly. Both USB-C and USB-A cables are included, so it plugs into older laptops too. Dynamic Thermal Guard keeps it from overheating during long transfers.

T7 or T9?

The T7 runs on USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps). The T9 doubles that with USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps) and up to 2,000MB/s, but only on a computer with a Gen 2x2 port, which many laptops and most Macs don't have. On a regular 10Gbps port, the two perform much the same, so for most users the T7 is the better value. Some devices may need the drive reformatted before first use, and the T7 carries a 3 year warranty against the T9's 5.

FEATURES:

Up to 1,050MB/s sequential read and 1,000MB/s write

Metal body that protects data from drops of up to 2m

AES 256-bit hardware encryption with optional password protection

Dynamic Thermal Guard for sustained transfers

Samsung Magician for health monitoring and firmware updates

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Samsung Portable SSD T7 (MU-PC2T0T/WW)

Capacity: 2TB

Interface: USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps), backward compatible with USB 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0

Connector: USB Type-C

Sequential read: Up to 1,050MB/s

Sequential write: Up to 1,000MB/s

UASP mode: Supported

Encryption: AES 256-bit hardware encryption

Software: Samsung Portable SSD Software 1.0, Samsung Magician

Drop resistance: Up to 2m

Compatibility: Windows, macOS, Android, game consoles

Dimensions: 85 x 57 x 8mm

Weight: 58g

Colour: Titan Grey

Warranty: 3 Year limited

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

1x Samsung T7 2TB Portable SSD

1x USB Type-C to Type-C cable

1x USB Type-C to Type-A cable

Why Samsung?

Samsung makes the NAND flash, controller and firmware inside its portable SSDs, which is part of why the T7 has become a reference drive in its class.
